Appreciation of crafts trades of excellence in Argentina
In line with the Campaign #ComprometidosConElPatrimonioyLaCreatividad, (Engaged with Heritage and Creativity) the Comité Colbert, UNESCO and the Federal Public Media and Content System of Argentina launched a competition in which outstanding craftspeople from all over the country can show their trade and their life stories. The aim is to encourage appreciation and social recognition of trades of excellence, placing emphasis on their potential to generate job opportunities.
My Trade, My Story is an invitation for outstanding artisans and designers to share their passion for their trade, demonstrate their work in their own context and talk about the reasons why they enjoy it and how their trade is relevant both at a local and an international level.
Independent artisans or communities of artisans who live in the country and whose work aligns with the common values of the Comité Colbert and UNESCO: excellence, quality, authenticity, creativity, innovation, ethical and responsible behaviour, involvement in transmitting their trade and a desire to have a local or international influence, will be eligible to participate.
The competition will conclude with the award of the Premios Colbert Argentina. There will be up to 5 winners whose stories will be used as a basis to promote their craft, thanks to the production of short films by Canal Encuentro. Furthermore, the two top winners will receive a monetary prize and the winner of Primer Premio Colbert Argentina v will travel to France to meet with one of the Comité Colbert’s member houses related to their craft.
